These guys are a real killer, ultra-fuzzed out groove machine kind of like the hellspawn that would result from Rocky Balboa, Queen, and Lightning Bolt gang raping the jazzier AMT. This is nothing more than hard-as-hell psych rock. Get yr drugzs on.

Sun Tornado - Mind's Common Beach
From the ashes of one of Pittsburgh's finest bands, Io (posted them a while ago), a few bands rose up. Sun Tornado is one of them. Mike, or whatever the name of Io's more prominent guitarist is, started this up as a more experimental rather than experimetal project to see where the mind could wander, and how big its imagination could get. Like most improv bands, they tend to start off slow and work towards a big bang of some kind or another, but they employ enough exceptions to that (overplayed) rule to keep my head swimming in Lake Gnarly. There's a good amount of noise experimentation, ample grooves, some progressions that could be right out of the Fugazi handbook, charming lo-fi production values; all in all, they picked their name well, as it definitely describes the kind of swirling, quasi-unidentifiable sonic waves they produce.

Sorry about the lack of artwork - can't find much of it anywhere. So, in lieu of informative imagery, here's what Bill Cosby would look like if he was from the future:

Sun Tornado Cover
Psychic Paramount Cover
Heard the Psychic Paramount a while back, this post reminded me to give them a listen again.
Haven't heard Sun Tornado, definitely going to check it out.
Thanks Petya. I saw those before I posted, but the Sun Tornado one isn't correct, and the Psychic Paramount one is a bit off (I own both albums). I guess its better than nothing at all though.
